Interesting piece in the Winston-Salem Journal about Art for Law and Medicine, a company which creates medical illustrations to teach doctors and educate juries. It is one of a number of graphic design businesses taking root in the Triad, and it’s not unintentional. Art for Law and Medicine was lured to the region in part because of the proximity to the new Center for Design Innovation:

The Center…in Winston-Salem, is a joint effort between the School of the Arts, Forsyth Technical Community College and Winston-Salem State University to develop design programs for students, for example.

The entire project is part of a strategic effort to shift the region’s economy away from its past manufacturing base.
