Nine lawyers from Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC, led by former Gov. Jim Hunt, are visiting China this week on an economic development mission:

Among the industries that the firm is focusing on are automobile and furniture manufacturing, life sciences, logistics, construction machinery and pharmaceuticals.

Gov. Hunt had a lot success while in office with these types of global business outreach initiatives.

Magnolia accolades

Magnolia Grill in Durham is one of this year’s nominees for the James A. Beard Outstanding Restaurant Award. The Beard is one of the top honors a restaurant can achieve. The award will go to the restaurant that “serves as a national standard bearer of consistency of quality and excellence in food, atmosphere, and service.” Only eateries in operation for at least ten years are eligible. Last October, Magnolia was recognized as one of the top-50 restaurants in the country by Gourmet magazine.
